Vital Rail extends York operations - 05/04/2012

Increased orders from a number of clients based on or around the East Coast Main Line (ECML) have prompted us to open an office in York once again.

Nick Baxter, Regional Director of Vital Rail North, said: “Despite the cost reductions which are flowing through the industry following the publication of the McNulty report, we have actually seen quite a strong and steady increase in work recently.

“We put this down to a combination of the rail contractors further reducing their supply chains – for which we have retained our preferred supplier status and the increased demand for our contracting services under which we deliver fixed price packages of work.”

Vital Rail’s York office is under the control of Steve Carter, the company’s northern region operations manager, whilst the office is run by resource manager Emma Barnes.

Nick Baxter continued: “We’re getting busier and busier across the East Coast where we are servicing the needs of several clients including Network Rail, and so the natural thing to do was to re-establish our presence in the region.”

Nick Baxter added: “We’ll be mirroring what we already provide from our other offices, which will include the provision of contingent labour in various categories of work; track, safety critical, signalling and telecoms, and overhead line electrification.

“We also expect to be delivering more fixed-price track work as we’ve just been awarded our Principal Contractor’s Licence (PCL) by Network Rail, and we already have a Plant Operator’s Licence (POL).”Plus we will be offering our Cable Theft prevention services through our security business – so it looks like our York team are going to be busy!
